Honda’s Swindon facility has just wrapped up production of the new Honda Civic Type R with the aim of exporting the car to Honda’s home market by autumn this year. With news of Honda’s UK plant at Swindon being labeled the company’s global production hub for the next generation Honda Civic five-door, positive sentiments are already on the rise, especially considering the company is expected to receive a £200 million settlement as investment.
With the Honda Civic Type R, the company hopes to make a big impact in the market at home and abroad.
The buyers of the Honda Civic Type R should expect a 228kW and 400Nm under the hood coming from the Honda’s all-new 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The powertrain features a six-speed manual transmission which enables the Type R to reach up to 100km/h in just 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 270 km/h, thereby enforcing the company’s claim that there’s no faster FWD hatch in the market other than the Honda Civic Type R.
