The automobile industry is abuzz with the latest news of Nissan’s unanticipated decision of withdrawing the 2016 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid. The seven seater SUV, enclosing a 2.5 litre four cylinder engine assisted by a 20hp elect motor, is no longer available as per the company’s website. Nissan is also doing away with the hybrid version of the Infiniti QX60.

According to Dan Bedore, the company’s spokesperson, the hybrid was not making a significant contribution to the company’s sales and Nissan’s major appeal in this segment has always been the gas-fuelled Pathfinder. Nissan’s website also mentions that customers aspiring for ultra-efficiency may be interested in their ‘revolutionary Nissan Leaf’.

Rumours are rife that an all new Rogue Hybrid may well be on the horizon to compensate the removal of the Pathfinder hybrid. Currently, Nissan is also working on an innovative battery technology for the Leaf, which may boast a 250-mile range.
