Expect a new Mitsubishi Lancer to arrive in the market anytime soon, as the Mitsubishi Motors North America executive vice president, Don Swearingen has confirmed the initiation of production of the new model.
Talking to the Wards Auto, Swearingen said, Mitsubishi is in search of another automaker that can collaborate to produce the next-generation Lancer. But since there is a chance that the partnership does not work out and the production gets delayed for another year, Mitsubishi has begun working on the internal design of the Lancer.
First, it was believed that the Japanese automaker will team up with Renault to manufacture the new Lancer, but it was not true. Now, the rumours suggest that Mitsubishi is in talks with Nissan.
Although the sales of current Mitsubishi Lancer is going good, but when compared to its competitors like Toyota Corolla, the figures are not very impressive, hence Mitsubishi should really consider introducing new Lancer in the market.
