The new Mitsubishi Montero is expected to be launched in Summer, after it made its first appearance in the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. The Montero, as it is known in America, is designed following the GC-PHEV concept, which was recently updated for the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. The engine makeup and powertrain are expected to be inspired by the L200, which is offered with 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine generating 154 PS (113 KW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) and 181 PS (133KW) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a paddle-shift auto. However, rumours also reveal that it might have a supercharged 3.0-liter V-6, an electric motor, an eight-speed automatic transmission and a lithium-ion battery pack.
The most exciting feature of the new Montero has to be the availability of an infotainment system that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration systems. This will allow drivers to fully benefit from the apps on their smartphones whilst minimising driver distraction.
The Montero will first be launched in Europe, with the next generation Pajero nameplate, while in other foreign markets it would be introduced with name, ‘Shogun’.
