Qatar government has closed down the main Toyota/Lexus showroom for 30 days. According to reports, the Abdullah Abdulghani & Bros located in Doha was not following a major Qatari Commercial law.
Qatar’s Ministry of Economy and Commerce has also reported the closure of Altadamon Motors and Trading Co. and al-Tariq Automobiles Trading Co. for breaking the consumer law, which forbids dealers to sell cars to customers without giving them proper information or use false marketing to increase their sales.
The ministry explained that Toyota Doha was selling cars with a brand new tag, while some of them were previously involved in accidents and were repaired. This is not the first time a company has been closed in Qatar for breaking the laws. Honda, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram and Nissan dealership also faced closure due to the same reason.
Other Toyota dealerships in the city are still operating and it is unknown right now if any action will be taken against them too.
