American roads having China made cars? Sounds like a farfetched proposition doesn’t it? But that stands to change in coming two months because of Swedish manufacturer Volvo’s (Volvo is based in Sweden but owned by China’s Geely group) attempt to boost its market and global share. According to Volvo, the S60 sedans manufactured in the Chinese city of Chengdu will be on route to US markets through Shanghai. The exact number of S60 sedans to be exported is unknown at this point.

The Volvo S60 sedan will have the distinction of being the first mainstream Chinese built car to go for sale in the U.S. Before this, a few attempts were made to introduce Chinese made cars in the US market, but didn’t yield the desired results.

The S60 has enough power in form of 2.5 litre turbocharged five cylinder engine with 250 HP and 266 lb-ft of torque to make it compatible with US clientele’s taste.
