The latest innovation in the automotive industry, the autonomous vehicles by Google are not technically illegal according to Law, however a legislation was passed by the state of California, allowing Google to test its vehicles and later reveal the statistics of accidents their cars have had. And according to stats, there were 11 instances where these cars were involved in collisions.
Google’s self-driving car program director, Chris Urmson gave an explanation regarding this report blaming humans to cause those accidents. All accidents were minor with no injuries reported.
Urmson further explained that since the start, the autonomous cars have driven a total of 1.7 million miles and being involved only in 11 accidents show that they are much safer than the conventional vehicles.
