The recent crash tests conducted by The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) reveal 3 SUVs that performed well, while the rest passed with marginal or poor rating.
The 2015 Nissan Murano, alongside the four door Jeep Wrangler got good rating in the small overlap crash tests. The Crossover by Nissan has also earned a Top Safety Pick Plus rating, while the Wrangler couldn’t due to poor side and rear crash protection.
The impressive looking SUV Ford Flex on the other hand also managed to get the title of Top Safety Pick and showed “acceptable” performance in the crash tests.
Other SUV’s including the Hyundai Santa Fe, Jeep Cherokee and Dodge Durango, earned a marginal rating. The Fiat Chrysler Dodge Journey performance was the poorest compared to all the other seven SUVs as revealed by the institute.
