Chevrolet has announced the CNG option for its bi-fuel 2016 Silverado 3500HD Chassis Cab as it aims to expand its CNG-run vehicles’ line up. Both the 2WD and 4WD drivetrains of the regular cab will include bi-fuel commencing on the fourth quarter. The Silverado 3500HD has proven its worth with time as the ideal choice for trucks, and the CNG option will further encourage its sale as truck purchasers aim to reduce emissions and save money at the pump.
Drivers will benefit from fueling flexibility and an optimal range between fill-ups as the Silverado 3500HD will include a 24.5 gallon CNG tank along with its 23.5 gallon gasoline tank located on the back of its cab.
Chevrolet has approved and warranted all of the CNG fuel systems. The powertrain limited warranty, available on a five-year/100,000-mile period, covers the CNG fuel system and its components for qualified fleet customers. For the remaining customers, it is covered under the five-year/60,000-mile powertrain limited warranty of Chevrolet Complete Care. Scheduled maintenance of two-years/24000 miles is also available for the fleet and retails to customers under the Chevrolet Complete Care.
According to Chevy, all major components associated with the CNG system carry GM service part numbers and are available throughout dealerships in the U.S. This is not the case with other manufacturer’s bi-fuel trucks.
