Furious 7 is still on track, racing its way up to new records, albeit the billion-dollar mark already reached in less than 2 weeks. Now, the car-racing film venture has set its eyes on the latest entry of its blockbuster franchise. In a video released online, Vin Diesel made the official announcement for the eighth installment of the Fast and the Furious series, saying “I swear to you, and my brother upstairs, we are going to make the best movie you’ve ever seen.”

During the CinemaCon presentation, Universal Pictures also disclosed two sequel films of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ that would hit production floors soon and release in February 2017 and 2018. Vin got a little emotional talking about his former co-star, the late Paul Walker. “The last time I was on this stage was with my brother Pablo, the actor said, further adding “It’s hard for me to even watch that clip and then come out here without being emotional.”

The Furious 8 will be filmed in New York City and is set to hit theaters on April 14, 2017.
