Termed as McLaren’s most affordable supercar, the new McLaren 540C made its first appearance at the Shanghai Motor Show 2015. The 540C, which is another addition to McLaren’s much-loved Sports Series, is said to cost around £126,000.
A less powerful version of the 570S, the 540C is said to feature a twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 engine, which generates a maximum metric horsepower of 540 (hence, the name), and a torque of 398 lb-ft between 3500rpm and 6500rpm. The car can go from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 320.2km/h.
By supercar standards, the McLaren 540C is considered to be a highly accessible car, its price places it just above the Audi R8 and the Porsche 911 Turbo. The car is expected to be available for sale in countries around the globe, with many orders being placed already.
