Audi plans to unveil the e-tron version of its new A6 L at the 2015 Shanghai Motors Show which will start on 22nd April. The car has been designed exclusively for the Chinese market and is the company’s first plug-in hybrid model produced in China.
The car features a locally built long-wheelbase with a 2.0-litre TFSI four-cylinder engine that produces 211 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The electric motor can generate 122 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. The engine and electric motor are capable to take the car from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 8.4 seconds with a top speed of 210 km/h. On pure electric power, the car can cover 50kms with a total range of 880kms. The company plans to withhold sales of the sedan in the U.S or Europe and will go to sale in China early next year.
Audi isn’t the only company that is making the effort of affirming its position in the Chinese market; Volvo recently launched its S60l Twin Engine, a car that runs on electricity alone for up to 51.5kms.
