A two-minute race filmed from the inside of a Porsche 918 Spyder has created a thrill among car enthusiasts, as the supercar attempts to run adjacent to a Koenigsegg Agera R. At Germany’s 12,879 kilometer-long autobahn, an unusual situation was witnessed by spectators on highway when the 918 Spyder raced up to 350 km/h and maintained the speed level for a few seconds before slowing down.
The supercar however did not beat the Agera R, which was clearly voyaging ahead of the 918. The Agera R is a mid-engined sports car that can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 2.8s and reach a speed-extreme of 440km/h. It is powered up by an eight-cylinder, 5.0L twin turbocharged engine that delivers a power output of 1,140hp.
Despite the chase being filmed from inside the Porsche, it is difficult to determine which car was actually moving faster. The highway was already wet and other cars were also around, making it riskier for both supercars to finish the unexpected race.
To clear the air for all the enthusiasts out there, the video uploaded on the internet was not a marketing tactic. Porsche sold its last 918 Spyder unit in December last year, at a favorable price of $845,000.
