Following the tremendous success of Cayman GT4 which was revealed in New York earlier this month, Porsche is considering to launch a GT4 version of the new Boxster Spyder.

The Cayman GT4 exceeded all the expectations and predictions as said by a senior correspondent of the company, “We are looking at it right now. Much of the engineering has already been done for the Cayman, so we think this might be a good direction for us.”

The Boxster Spyder employes the same 3.8-litre engine but lacks its GT3-derived fully adjustable front suspension and bespoke rear suspension. With other hardware shared from Cayman GT4, it could have a horsepower of 385. The chief designer of the Boxster Spyder, Grant Larson, also revealed that the Spyder weighs 30kg less than the Boxster GTS because of the manual roof and no air conditioning.

So far, no official word is heard regarding the commencement of the project, but if the projects gets a green signal, the Boxster Spyder GT4 could probably be launched during the Frankfurt Motor Show or possibly during the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
