The electric carmaker Tesla Motors announced its new entry-level Model S 70D on Wednesday, which is more likely to target the potential mainstream luxury car buyers.
The Tesla 70D luxury sedan is a dual motor all-wheel drive with an engine that can produce 514 horsepower enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 5.2 seconds with a top speed of 140 mph (225 km/h). It will be powered by a 70 KW-Hour battery with an EPA-certified range of 240 miles.
Other prominent features will include super charging through Tesla’s nationwide network of super chargers and standard navigation system. Optional features will be the latest autopilot system with lane assist, self-parking and air suspension.
The 70D can be ordered at Tesla website for a starting price of $75,000 plus $1,200 for shipping. The company claims that federal tax credit will lower the price to $67,500.
