Mitsubishi is planning to target crossover vehicle market in North America by adding more vehicles to the lineup in the coming years.
In an interview conducted by Auto Guide at the New York Auto Show, the Mitsubishi Motors North America executive vice president, Don Swearingen said, “We are studying a bigger crossover.”
He added, those studies are soon coming to an end. “We haven’t made a decision if we’ll bring it to the U.S., but those studies will be concluded in the next six months.”
He believes crossovers are an area of potential growth for Mitsubishi brand in North America.
Recently Mitsubishi has revealed the new GC PHEV hybrid concept enclosing a powerful 3.0L V6 engine which can produce 335 horsepower and cover 35 miles per gallon.
“Our focus is more plug-in hybrids moving forward,” said Swearingen, giving a hint that new model will probably be equipped with a PHEV powertrain.
Mitsubishi has also revealed a redefined Outlander crossover at the 2015 New York Auto Show, featuring a dynamic shield front end.
