Until a few years or probably decades ago, the idea of a luxury crossover was a myth. The aspiring combination of an elegant sedan and an SUV was truly unheard of until the year 1997, when two vehicles changed the way the motor industry made vehicles. The first of these was the Mercedes M-Class and the second was Lexus RX, both of which were competing last week with their new counterparts at the New York Auto Show.
At the Javitz Center, New York City was positioned the Mercedes GLE, successor to the M-Class along with its Japanese rival and fourth generation of the RX. The 2016 Lexus RX is different from its predecessors as it comes with a revolutionary design composed of better angular views and a more recognizable appearance. The taillights of the RX are sharp as always but the spindle grille looks oversized. The model isn’t as edgy in its looks as compared to the Lexus NX, but seems to be appealing to its conservative collectors’ base.
Variants to the RX include the RX 350 with a conventional, six-cylinder engine and the RX 450H with its hybrid powertrain. Both versions have an upgraded engine power of 300hp. The company updated the interior with more space and enhanced equipment in an effort to maintain Lexus RX as the best-selling vehicle of Toyota’s luxury division.
