Honda has confirmed that its Civic hatch will be imported to the ‘key’ markets globally. There have been rumours in circulation lately which suggested that Honda will make its Civic hatch available for North America. The rumours were further supported when the new Civic Type R prototype was spotted testing in the US close to a factory associated with Honda.

Moreover, Honda’s production plant in Swindon, England will turn into a ‘global production hub’ for the Civic, which will enable the plant to enhance volumes. In the meantime, the economies of scale will also be improved. There have been speculation that Honda Civic hatch might be introduced in the North America as early as summer of 2016.

Update:

Honda has just introduced the 10th-generation Civic at the New York Auto Show featuring a turbocharged 1.5-liter VTEC engine with six speed manual or CVT transmission option. The US will get the hatchback variant in 5-door body style along with sedan, coupe and Si models.
