To recover from the heavy criticism it received for the sixth generation SL-Class Roadster’s failure, Mercedes-Benz is busy testing out prototypes of its face-lifted version across various countries.

Spy photographers caught a glimpse of one of the disguised prototypes as it was undergoing testing outside the Mercedes research and development centre in Germany.

Shots of the heavily camouflaged Mercedes-Benz SL reveal a complete makeover of the original version with the car’s exterior receiving a revamp for the rear and front bumpers, refurbished exhaust tips, slender headlights along with an upright grille, new hood and tail lamps.

It is anticipated that the car’s interior, though thickly cloaked with covers, has undergone some modifications with a new steering wheel resembling the one from S-Class Coupe, a somewhat larger touch screen display, and enhanced controls for the infotainment system. Moreover, the face-lifted version of the SL may receive the same twin-turbocharged 4.0 litre V8 from the Mercedes-AMG GT.
