In an unexpected turn of events, Ferrari has declared to upgrade all the LaFerraris, while clarifying profusely that it is not a recall. Though an upgrade so early after the model’s launch seems unnecessary, Ferrari claims that the new upgrade, entailing a non-combustible gas tank, will curtail the chances of the car catching fire.
The company is, however, quick in reassuring customers that there is no serious safety threat to LaFerrari owners and this is a mere, optional upgrade and not a recall.
The upgrade will require LaFerrari owners to hand over their cars for around eight hours during which the car tanks will receive a touch up making them safer. The service campaign, as it is called, can be a part of the car’s standard servicing schedule and will be carried out devoid of any charges.
As a rule, all Ferrari owners are entitled to seven years worth of free maintenance services. The LaFerrari, enclosing a 6.3-litre V12 engine producing 789-horsepower, is priced at a whopping £1.15 million.
