It was an affair of exhilaration as Yamaha recently launched the cutting-edge R1 in Dubai in the presence of Spanish MotoGP Champion Jorge Lorenzo. Held on the 17th of March at the Dubai Autodrome, the event was graced by select media from the region and was divided into two phases, starting with a press conference. Subsequently, attendees moved to the suite overlooking the circuit where they were treated to a live demonstration of the new vehicle by Jorge Lorenzo himself.
Following the press conference by the Yamaha team, the official unveiling of the striking Yamaha R1 2015 took place with Jorge Lorenzo removing the covers of the brand new vehicle in the Technical Bay Garages. He was later joined by 12 riders who are owners of YAMAHA motorcycle in Dubai as they took over the track to ride with the champion. Guests at the event then witnessed the new R1 in action as the four time world champion took to the tracks for an exclusive demo ride in the vehicle.
Yamaha R1 2015
It was seventeen years ago that Yamaha unveiled the original YZF-R1 in the city of Milan. Light, powerful and agile, the R1 offered a whole new level of performance to the super-sport rider and transformed the world of motorcycling in one brief moment! Now, two decades on from the arrival of the machine that transformed the bike world, history repeats itself as Yamaha raises the bar once again with the sequel; its next generation superbike – the new YZF-R1. Everything is different, except the name.
Right from the beginning of the project it was agreed that this totally new high performance pure sport motorcycle would be developed from scratch without any restrictions. This gave Yamaha’s engineers and designers the opportunity to explore new concepts and designs, and create the kind of machine that, up to now, only factory riders could ever experience.
Special edition YZF-R1M
Yamaha will also produce a special R1 edition aimed at professional teams and highly experienced riders who demand the ultimate track and race performance. Featuring a range of highly sophisticated equipment – including Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS), carbon bodywork, a Communication Control Unit (CCU) and high-specification Bridgestone tyres – the YZF-R1Mwill be produced in limited quantities.
As the Yamaha R1 2015 drifts into Dubai, Yamaha looks set to add another milestone to its legacy with the launch of yet another pioneering creation.
