Toyota’s Serbian arm has published a short promotional video that shows a mysterious new version of the popular Corolla. The Japanese automaker did not provide any details about the car depicted in the video, but rumors indicate that it could be a facelifted version of the Corolla. The sedan features a new front end that borrows styling cues such as angular headlights and an elegant-looking single-slat radiator grille from the updated Auris hatchback that was introduced last week in Geneva.

The modifications made to the rear end of the Corolla are more minor and largely limited to a new strip of chrome trim that connects the tail lamps and a slightly revamped bumper.

Interestingly, the Corolla shown in the video is equipped with an instrument cluster that appears to be sourced from the Euro-spec Auris Hybrid. Whether or not the Corolla is set to inherit the Auris’ gasoline-electric drivetrain in the near future is up in the air.

Some sources claim that the facelifted Corolla will be presented to the public for the first time at the New York Motor Show that will open its doors next month. However, others believe that the updated sedan will only be sold in Europe, while some speculate that it is simply a digital model that was created specifically for the video.
