Dubai Police have reportedly added the BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car to its fleet of luxury patrolling cars. The car was introduced on Wednesday by the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Major General Khamis Mattar Balmazina.

The new BMW i8 is painted in uniform green and white exterior colour that appears on all cars of the fleet, while the powertrain specs and rest of features are same as that of a standard i8. It is powered by a hybrid powertrain featuring a 1.5 litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine capable of producing 235 horsepower and a lithium-ion battery with an output of up to 129 horsepower. Together, these machines produce up to 364 horsepower and 570 Nm torque.

The BMW i8 can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.4 seconds, which means, no one can outrun the law in Dubai. Other useful dynamics of this sports car include maximum speed of 250km/h, fuel economy of 2.1 litres/100km and carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) lightweight bodywork.

The BMW i8 is the first ever green car brought into the squad, which already includes supercars like Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari FF, Bugatti Veyron, Aston Martin One-77, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Bentley Continental GT, McLaren MP4-12C, Audi R8 and many others.
