McLaren is all set to launch new Sports Series for supercar lovers around the world. After creating two different families of automobiles: the Super Series (with the 625C, 650S and new 675LT) and the Ultimate Series (P1 and P1 GTR), having five different variants, the British manufacturer is planning to add another family to its empire “McLaren Sports Series” having seven different members.
According to McLaren’s jovial chief executive, Mike Flewitt, who talked to Car and Driver at the Geneva Motor Show previous week, the firms’ upcoming entry-level range will be shaped in three or four body styles, which include a coupe, a convertible and an unconventional GT version, while the engine specs will vary from model to model.
The McLaren Sports Series will come loaded with a much active aerodynamics and suspension, supporting the same carbon monocoque chassis and a little de-tuned 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. The power machine is expected to pump out around 500 hp that will be transferred to the wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The price range is expected to be set against the Porsche 911 Turbo and the Turbo S, which are sold for $152k and $184k, respectively, in the US.
The British automotive manufacturer will be unveiling the first master piece of McLaren Sports Series at the New York Auto Show in the following month and hopes to sell around 2,000 to 2,500 units per year globally.
