The German automaker Volkswagen has decided to properly jump in the arena of plugin hybrid vehicles with its Volkswagen Sports Coupe GTE Concept. VW has recently flaunted its skills at plugin hybrids by showcasing this concept at Geneva Motor Show 2015.
The Sports Coupe GTE is a four door automobile, which can be categorized both as a coupe and a four-seat hatchback. With a chiselled face that bears a striking resemblance to the new Aston Martin Lagonda, this car is positioned between Volkswagen CC and Volkswagen Phaeton. But it is definitely four inches longer and two inches wider than Passat.
Looking at the specs, the VW Sports Coupe GTE couples a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 to a pair of electric motors and a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The internal combustion engine generates 295 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, which is transferred to the front wheels, while one of the electric motors pumps out 54 hp and the other gives out 114 hp channelled to the rear wheels.
The yellow painted devil can hop up to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 5 seconds and the top speed is rated at 155 mph (249 km/h). Depending solely on the electric power, it can go up to 32 miles (51.5 km), but overall, it can take you as far as 745 miles (1,200 km).
The techs and gadgets include a 12.3 inch display screen showing the speed and power, and a 10.1 inch screen specifically dedicated for infotainment purposes.
