Kia has brought us, what can be called a sporty wagon with space, Sportspace Concept at the Geneva Motor Show 2015. The simply stunning beauty cannot be categorized yet into any car shape. It is neither a saloon nor a wagon, neither a hatchback nor a shooting-brake. So what we can call it then? Here’s what the manufacture has to say about it, “a vehicle that can meet the demands of those who refuse to be categorized when it comes to their lifestyle or their motoring needs”.
Who would want to look over the specs of such a mysterious creature? The Kia Sportspace comes enclosing a 2.0-litre direct-injection four-cylinder turbo engine which supplies 250 horsepower only to the front wheels. As the transmission and performance values have been kept secret we only know that the car rests on 20 inch ten-spoke alloy wheels with all its carbon fibre body.
The car’s overall proportions tell the story of the sporty ride waiting at the driver’s seat. The sloping glass roof, forward-angled D pillar and sculpted rear give the 4,855 x 1,870 x 1,425-mm (L x W x H, 191 x 73.6 x 56-in) car the feel of a sporty, stretched hatchback, as opposed to a big, boxy, family-hauling wagon.
This “stylish and exciting transportation” for four has been specially designed by Kia’s Frankfurt Design Studio, in the hands of Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer Europe. The Kia Sportspace concept sports a stunning red paint job which the manufacturer calls “Ignition Red”, and on the front it carries Kia’s Signature ‘tiger-nose’ grille.
