Rolls-Royce has once again hit the Middle Eastern auto market with a special edition car, named as Al-Adiyat. Al-Adiyat is an Arabic word which means “the noise made by a powerful horse when its hooves strike stone.” Rolls Royce is famous for targeting specific international markets, and Middle East is one of its most favourites.
This bespoke luxury coupe carries the same 6.75-litre V-12, under its hood, which has been propelling the Phantom Coupe since its inception in 2008. But there is an update; the engine now gives out 453 horsepower at 5,350 rpm and 531 pound-feet of torque at 1,000 rpm. This power is transferred to the wheels via an eight-speed, ZF automatic transmission. Sprinting from rest to 60 mph in just 5.7 seconds, this luxury car touches a top speed of 155 mph.
Adorned with white and red leather all over the seats, it focuses mainly on red colour from dashboard to the carpet on the floor, although it is in a darker shade of red. Apart from the red paint job, the headrests of the front seats also sport horse themed motifs, carrying the legacy of its name. The British automaker plans to manufacture only 10 units of this luxury coupe, nine of them will be Rolls-Royce Wraiths and only one will be Phantom Coupe.
Rolls-Royce Al-Adiyat is expected to be priced around $500,000, while a regular coupe carries a price tag of approximately $435,000.
