Aston Martin is all set to debut its own track-only monster at the Geneva Motor Show this year to take on McLaren’s P1 GTR and Ferrari’s FXXK – enter the Aston Martin Vulcan.

Based on the One-77, this beast packs a naturally-aspirated 7.0-litre V12 engine chugging out a little over 800 bhp, via an Xtrac six-speed sequential shift gearbox. The car is a refreshing change after the hybrid set-ups of its competitors, featuring a traditional front-engine and rear-wheel drive composition.

Only 24 of these cars will ever be produced, as a symbol of recognition for Aston’s success in 24hr endurance races around the world. The Vulcan’s first public laps are scheduled for Le Mans 24hr race in June.

The sports car packs new looks, designed by Aston head of design Marek Reichmann, featuring ultra-wide track, huge rear wing, cavernous air vents on the bonnet and a very capable aero package.

The exterior further includes a carbon propeller shaft, 380mm carbon ceramic discs at the front and 360mm at the rear, 19-inch Michelin tyres, a pushrod suspension with adjustable dampers, anti-roll bars and variable traction control.

The interior boasts carbon fibre, Alcantara, and titanium switchgear, along with a digital display behind the semi-circular steering wheel. Aston claims to be “infinitely flexible” with the Vulcan’s color and trim options, which is a good news for limited edition enthusiasts.

All 24 lucky owners will be offered a chance to hone their driving skills under expert guidance of Aston Martin race drivers including Le Mans winner, Darren Turner.
