As its name implies, the concept is the latest in a long line of digital supercars designed by automakers from all around the world to celebrate the 15th birthday of the popular Gran Turismo gaming series. Subaru’s concept takes the form of a highly-futuristic two-door fastback that pays homage to the automaker’s illustrious rally heritage.
Up front, the Viziv GT shares a handful of styling cues like its angular headlights and its hexagonal radiator grille with the new WRX but it turns the dial up to 11 with a deep bumper fitted with a carbon fiber splitter, bulged fenders and two massive NACA ducts integrated into the hood. The viziv GT’s rear end is dominated by a huge spoiler and a sizable air diffuser.
The digital race car rides on multi-spoke wheels crafted out of a combination of alloy and carbon fiber. Subaru has not published pictures of the cockpit.
Power comes from a plug-in hybrid drivetrain consisting of a 2.0-liter flat-four engine and no less than three electric motors. Together, the power sources send 591 horsepower and 593 lb-ft. of torque to all four wheels. Performance figures were not published but Subaru claims the car hypothetically weighs a hair over 1,360 kg.
Gamers will be able to download the The Viziv GT before the end of the year. Although the concept is expected to remain a one-off model made out of pixels, its aggressive design and its plug-in hybrid drivetrain could loosely preview the next generation of Subaru’s high-performance models.
