As its name implies, the concept is the latest in a long line of digital supercars designed by automakers from all around the world to celebrate the 15th birthday of the popular Gran Turismo gaming series. Subaru’s concept appears to take the form of a highly-futuristic two-door shooting brake that pays homage to the automaker’s illustrious rally heritage.
Up front, the Viziv GT shares a handful of styling cues like its angular headlights and its hexagonal radiator grille with the new WRX but it turns the dial up to 11 with a deep bumper fitted with a carbon fiber splitter, bulged fenders and two massive NACA ducts integrated into the hood. The teaser video does a good job of hiding the Viziv GT’s rear end but an overhead shot reveals it is equipped with a huge spoiler.
The digital race car rides on multi-spoke wheels crafted out of a combination of alloy and carbon fiber.
A discreet “plug-in” emblem briefly visible about halfway through the teaser video reveals the concept is powered by a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. However, Subaru is keeping full technical details under wraps until the Viziv GT is formally introduced.
The Subaru Viziv GT Gran Turismo will be fully unveiled in the coming weeks and gamers will likely be able to download the car before the end of the year. Although the concept is expected to remain a one-off model made purely of pixels, its aggressive design and its plug-in hybrid drivetrain could loosely preview the next generation of Subaru’s high-performance models.
