Powertrain & Performance
Our review starts with the powertrain and performance of this full-size SUV. Both trims derive their power from the front-mounted 6.2 Litre, V8 engine that puts up an impressive 420 horsepower and 623 Nm of torque. Both variants come with a full-time four-wheel drive system, while only the Premium version is available with a driver-selectable three-mode two-wheel drive system.
The engine is connected to a hydra-matic heavy-duty six-speed automatic transmission that includes Driver Shift Control. The new Escalade is quick enough to jump from 0 to 100 km/h within 6.5 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 280 km/h. However, this does not come cheap, as the fuel consumption per 100km is around 14.7 litres.
