Although tyres form a crucial part of your vehicle and have a huge effect on its overall performance their importance is often neglected. Choosing the most suitable tyres for your car should be your first priority. We can help you in making the right choice as well as guide you how to maintain them well.

1- Signs of wearing out

Before you go for selecting tyres, you first need to know if your car really needs new tyres. If you find a flat tyre, any visible parts of the tyre falling apart, a worn down tread or any other signs of wear and tear, you might need to replace them.

2- Types

Tyres can be of different types such as high-performance (HP) or ultra high-performance (UHP). Your task here is to know which tyre is apt for your car. Your choice should be according to the weather in your country. For instance, if you are likely to drive in dry and wet conditions then summer tyres provide better handling, whereas all-season tyres function best in all sorts of weather; be it winter conditions or summer. The GCC residents must go for all-season tyres. Both HP and UHP tyres are excellent in providing traction and control. The size of your car tyres is also important as the numbers labeled on the tyres are indicators of its width, aspect ratio, diameter of the wheel in inches and also the position of the tyre such as the passenger tyre.

3- Tyre Tread life

The tyre’s tread life is the best indicator of its performance and quality. It is a measure of the durability and stability of it and though most companies offer similar tyre quality, its durability and speed rating can help you determine which one is best for your vehicle. Since in the Middle East we have a higher speed limit it is only essential that you purchase tyres with high speed ratings.

4- Tyre maintenance

A- Once you have decided and purchased the right type of tyres for your vehicle, the next step is their good maintenance. In order to keep them functioning smoothly you need to check them regularly for their inflation pressure, any cracks or bulges on them, and any foreign object that may puncture them.

B- Also check the tyre’s pressure using a gauge and only inflate them when they are cold as the reading can be inaccurate while they are hot. Always keep an inflated spare tyre for any emergencies that might occur.

C- Visit a tyre shop to get tyre rotation; do it after every 5000km and also get them balanced. You can use the owner’s manual to guide you on tyre rotating sequence.

D- Always check the tread depth indicator to know when it is wearing down. It helps determine the right time to replace them. Moreover, the wheel alignment should be checked as any misalignment can cause tyres to wear out more quickly than usual.
