The illustration will be crafted into a physical concept vehicle for the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

The track-focused model is said to have been conceived in response to demands from customers who wanted a true competition car based on the street-legal P1. The company agreed, promising to build a new ‘GTR’ edition to celebrate the legendary F1 GTR that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995.

The GTR package is expected to bring engine output up to nearly 1,000 horsepower, with a wider track and redesigned aerodynamics to optimize downforce.

“Participants in the programme will have unprecedented access to the technologies, resources and expertise which have helped develop and train Formula 1 champions,” McLaren notes.

The program will not come cheap, likely fetching $3.35 million per vehicle. Production is set to begin once the 375th and final street-legal P1 has been completed in June 2015.
