Chrysler has continued to claim bragging rights for the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, posting a quarter-mile time of 11.2 seconds at 201 kmph.
The time was certified by the National Hot Rod Association, in an all-stock configuration with Pirelli P275/40ZR20 P Zero tires.
The 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat engine’s 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque are put to even better use when the test car was outfitted with drag radials, dropping the time down to 10.8 seconds at 202 kmph.
“It wasn’t long ago that a 10-second car, was a full-on race car,” says Dodge and SRT brand chief Tim Kuniskis. “The new 2015 Dodge Challenger raises the bar to a level some of us never thought we’d see.”
The Challenger SRT Hellcat is the most powerful model in Chrysler’s lineup, and the first example of a factory-supercharged HEMI V8. Forced induction helps the classic muscle nameplate outgun the V10-powered Viper in terms of raw output.
