Authorities in Oman have decided to recall around one hundred Lexus vehicles to fix a manufacturing defect. As reported, Lexus GS 250/300 cars that were manufactured between June and December 2012 have a defected brake pedal sensor.

The defect causes constant brake warning indication and can possibly activate the brakes. The recall campaign is initiated by PACP (Public Authority for Consumer Protection) in association with SBG (Saud Bahwan Group). The brake pedal support system will be replaced in each vehicle to make them error-free.

The recall decision was made due to a number of similar cases reported to the Public Prosecution in the past few months. Many automotive agencies and individuals have been fined, while consumers have been compensated with refunds.

As PACP is committed to enforce consumer protection laws, it has taken this decision in favour of consumers to protect their rights. However, this would not adversely impact the status of Lexus vehicles in Oman.
