Al-Futtaim Motors, exclusive distributor of Toyota in the UAE, has launched the highly anticipated all-new Yaris Hatchback (HB), featuring an impressively bold and sporty design with substantially bigger dimensions and high quality interior.
The leading hatchback car has been completely redesigned to appeal to customers looking for a stylish compact car with modern design, comprehensive safety features, generous space and excellent fuel economy.
When developing the new car, Chief Engineer, Takeshi Matsuda’s priority was to deliver value beyond belief by creating a bigger and bolder vehicle which people take pride in owning.
Jon Williams, Managing Director, Al-Futtaim Motors said at the launch: “The small passenger car segment makes up almost 27% of the total UAE passenger car market, and has recorded around 24% growth year on year. The current Yaris HB leads the hatchback segment with 19% market share. This is mainly due to the car’s legendary reliability, low total cost of ownership and excellent manoeuvrability on the busy city roads”

Sporty and Confident Exterior
The all-new Yaris HB benefits from sportier styling, while enjoying an impressively bigger and lower body. With a wheelbase which has grown by 40mm, the total length of the car has reached 4115mm, making the new Yaris the longest among its competitors.
When both these figures are coupled with an increased width of +5mm and a reduction in height by 45mm, the result is a highly aerodynamic body with a wider and more masculine stance.
With a newly designed lower trapezoidal grille and updated headlamp cluster that smoothly integrates into the front of the vehicle, the new Yaris creates a striking, bolder visual impact when on the road.
The profile of the car features deeply sculpted concave and convex sections to show off the vehicle’s strong sense of presence, while the main straight line that runs along the whole profile of the body makes the car appear larger. Besides, the stretched look is enhanced by thinner front and rear pillars offering better driver and passenger visibility.
The rear design of the new Toyota Yaris has also been updated to emphasise a strong stance through the narrow tapered roof section that contrasts with the wide lower half.
Comfortable and Spacious Interior
The all-new Yaris HB offers enhanced comfort through its roomy interior and heightened class-above feel.
The instrument panel set along a horizontal axis that runs the entire width of the cabin, conveys a feel of expansive openness and spacious interior atmosphere.
To reinforce the class-above feeling, a combination of silver and chrome-plated ornamentation has been used in various prominent locations, beside the stitching design that is adopted on the instrument panel, door trim, steering wheel and shift lever. A newly designed three-spoke steering wheel has also been introduced adding appeal to the vehicle’s looks. For greater differentiation, exclusive red stitching has been utilized on the SE model seats and steering wheel.
By improving the front/rear seat distance, which has been increased to 912 mm, and utilising an adjustable steering column, the driver can enjoy an optimal driving position and a comfortable drive.
For added flexibility, folding rear seats have been made available, enabling a variety of uses for the vehicle and even more cargo space when required.
New generation thin frames have been developed for the front seats, increasing the knee clearance in the rear by 48mm to reach a generous 663mm.
Adding to the uniqueness of the new Yaris Hatchback is the rear flat floor design, which gives the centre rear passenger a more comfortable seating position, as well as allowing passengers the freedom of movement through the vehicle.
In line with the expanded vehicle size, the rear seat shoulder width has been increased to 1310mm. Also the cargo length has grown to 734 mm securing a top class cargo space with a volume of 326 litres of storage.
Two colour schemes are available for the Interior: Black and New Ivory, with a variety of configurations that create an elegant, modern interior.
Performance, Durability & Fuel Efficiency
In addition to the lightweight design, aerodynamic elements such as the uniquely shaped catamaran roof and side fins have been adopted to ensure excellent handling stability and enhanced fuel economy.
The new Yaris comes in two engine choices: the 1.3 L VVTI delivering 84bhp and 1.5L VVTI with 107bhp, consuming as little as 5.6 liters per 100km and reaching 0-100km in 11.9 seconds making it the quickest among its competitors. Both engines feature automatic transmission and deliver optimum fuel efficiency contributing to class leading total cost of ownership.
The all-new Yaris HB features a new Electric Power Steering (EPS) and a newly developed front strut-type suspension designed for long-term reliability which also enhances the rigidity of the body and improves the car’s driving performance.
To ensure a quiet and smooth ride, Toyota has resorted to using a variety of sound absorbing and insulating materials. For the front windshield, acoustic glass has been adopted to realize superior sound absorption and minimise wind and road noise.
For enhanced durability, anti-corrosion steel usage has been optimized giving the new Yaris owners in the UAE greater confidence in their vehicles and ensuring the future resale values remain the best in class.
Impressive Active and Passive Safety Features
With the new Yaris, Toyota has once again shown its commitment to being socially responsible with high level of protection available as standard.
The car has many active and passive safety features that include driver and front-passenger airbags (SRS), an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) within an impact absorbing body structure and high strength body frame.
Premium Convenience
The Smart Entry & Push Button Start System available in the SE+ model allows locking and unlocking of the doors or trunk. The audio system of the all-new Yaris HB has been updated and offers AUX and USB jacks, compatible with portable media players. It also comes with a larger multi language display that features the track name, artist name and album title. The audio switches can also be operated conveniently from the steering wheel on the top two models.
For added driver and occupants’ comfort, cup holders have been adopted for the driver seat, front passenger seat, and in the rear console, all positioned close at hand for each occupant, realizing superior usability.
Benefiting from Toyota’s long term leadership of the UAE and GCC markets, the all-new Yaris HB features exceptional air conditioning that can cool the cabin to 15C in only 3minutes.
Colours and Price
The all-new Yaris Hatchback comes with a wide colour line-up to meet a variety of tastes. A total of nine exterior colours are available, including three new colours such as vibrant Orange, Silky Beige and Frozen Blue.
The all-new Yaris HB is available from the 24th of June 2014 across all Al-Futtaim Motors showrooms in the UAE with an entry level price of AED 51,000 for the 1.3L SE model. Two versions of the 1.5L model are also available with the SE priced at AED 54,900.
The top grade and very premium 1.5 SE+ comes with Smart Entry and push-button start, upgraded alloys, automatic climate control, projector beam headlamps, 60/40 split folding seats, is still only AED 57,500
