Following several teaser images and leaks, Nissan has formally unveiled the all-new 2015 Navara pickup truck.

As expected, the next Navara wears an evolutionary design characterized by elongated headlamps with LED daytime running lights and a more rounded version of Nissan’s trademarked U-shaped radiator grille. The changes to the rear end include a more shapely tailgate with an integrated spoiler and larger tail lamps, while a sculpted front bumper and a curved hood give the 2015 Navara a less chunky overall appearance than the outgoing model.

Like the current model, the next Navara will be offered with several body styles including King and Crew cabs as well as two different bed lengths. The truck’s exact specifications will vary from country to country, but the Navara-badged model pictured above could preview the U.S.-spec Frontier that will debut in the coming years.

The next Navara gains a more refined SUV-inspired interior with a curved center console, a configurable TFT screen installed in the instrument cluster and a new three-spoke multi-function steering wheel. Well-equipped models will move up a notch on the market by offering a number of tech features such as a push-button ignition and a color touch screen integrated into the center stack.

In global markets, the Navara is offered with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine available with either 163 horsepower and 297 lb-ft. of torque or 190 ponies and 332 lb-ft. of twist. Buyers less concerned with efficiency can opt for a gas-burning 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit.

Both engines come standard with six-speed manual transmission, but a seven-speed automatic unit that Nissan promises noticeably improves gas mileage and performance is available as an option. Power is sent to the rear wheels or to all four wheels depending on configuration.

Four-wheel drive models come with electronic driving aids such as Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist.

Expected to go on sale before the end of the year, Nissan’s entry-level pickup will face stiff competition from the all-new Chevrolet Colorado. Pricing information will be published at a later date.
