UAE’s first ever solar vehicle competition hosted by Masdar is scheduled to be held in Dubai next year. This was announced at Abu Dhabi Ascent, last month. The event will feature a solar-powered vehicles’ race that will connect to Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
Abu Dhabi Solar Challenge (ADSC) will be the first ever solar car competition to be held across UAE. Academic organisations and student groups are encouraged to participate in the competition with their own scientific creations. The participants must submit their registrations ASAP, as the complete schedule will be announced this summer.
A prequalifying will take place from 13 to 15 January, where the vehicles will be tested on design and performance standards. Subsequently, a four-day cross-country race will start from Abu Dhabi on January 16 and will cover 1,200 kilometers across the country. The sprint will end on 19 January, the last day of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which is the largest gathering on sustainability in the Middle East.
Host of the event, Masdar is a Dubai-based renewable energy company and a subsidiary of Abu-Dhabi Government. In addition to that, the event is sanctioned by International Solarcar Federation (ISF) and organised by Global EEE and Professional Sports Group.
