Lexus appears to have quietly introduced a supercharged version of its LX 570 SUV in the Middle East.
The upgrade package is powered by the same 5.7-liter V8 engine as the standard LX 570, but with output bumped to 450 horsepower, according to details posted by the Arabic blog. In contrast, the naturally aspirated mill produces 381 ponies.
The mostly black interior has been distinguished by red leather seats, red accents and wood trim, with “Supercharg” scribed into the illuminated aluminum door sill. Other upgrades include xenon and LED headlights, a premium stereo and a full range of electronic assistance systems.
A platform stablemate of the Toyota Land Cruiser, the LX 570 until now has focused more on providing a plush cruise rather than a performance experience. Adding a forced induction brings the large SUV closer to territory occupied by Land Rover’s Range Rover Supercharged, though it is unclear if the added horsepower has been paired with any handling refinements.
The LX 570 Supercharged is said to have been produced exclusively for the Middle Eastern market, appearing first in Kuwait.
