American sports cars manufacturer Hennessey has detailed a limited-edition version of the Venom GT called World’s Fastest Edition. As its name clearly implies, the Venom GT World’s Fastest Edition pays homage to the car’s record-breaking 386 kmph run at the Kennedy Space Center’s 5.15 Km landing runway.
Limited to just three examples, the limited-edition Venom GT features a bespoke white paint job with a red and blue stripe that prominently goes down the center of the car.
“The Venom GT is America’s supercar,” explained company founder John Hennessey in a statement. “We wanted to offer a special paint scheme that would incorporate the colors of the American flag–the same flag we flew on the Space Shuttle runway.”
The rest of the Venom GT is essentially unchanged inside and out, meaning the Lotus-derived supercar packs a highly-aerodynamic carbon fiber body with active aerodynamic components that use sensors to provide the ideal amount of downforce in any situation. Large alloy wheels wrapped by low-profile Michelin tires come standard.
The cockpit is equipped just the bare minimum level of equipment in order to avoid adding needless weight. The steering is commanded through a three-spoke wheel with a thick rim and the two passenger sit on bucket seats upholstered in leather and Alcantara.
Power comes from a 7.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that sends 1,244 horsepower to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The 1,244 Kg Venom GT is capable of reaching 300 kmph from a stop in a record-breaking 13.6 seconds.
A programmable traction control system and an adjustable suspension help the driver make the most of the engine’s prodigious power.
Production of the Hennessey Venom GT World’s Fastest Edition is limited to just three examples. Each car has already been spoken for in spite of $1.25 million price tag.
