A new report indicates Chevrolet is considering launching two performance-focused variants of the recently-introduced 2015 Tahoe badged RS and SS, respectively.
Rumors hint both models will be noticeably inspired by the Tahoe Black concept that debuted at the 2013 edition of the SEMA show in Las Vegas. The SUVs will boast a murdered out look thanks to a dark metallic paint job, dark gray 22-inch alloy wheels and smoked lights on both ends.
A lowered suspension, a full body kit all around and twin chromed exhaust pipes will wrap up the aggressive look. While the Tahoe RS will retain the stock Tahoe’s 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8 engine, the range-topping SS model will be powered by the 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 found under the hood of the GMC Yukon Denali. Minor modifications such as a remapped ECU and a new exhaust line will help squeeze more power out of the eight-cylinder mill.
The visual and mechanical updates will be complemented by a sportier cabin with a bespoke instrument cluster, leather-upholstered seats and a large serving of standard high-tech equipment. If the rumor proves true, the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe RS and SS models will likely bow at next fall’s Los Angeles Motor Show and go on sale shortly after.
The Suburban, the Tahoe’s larger sibling, is far less likely to get the performance-focused treatment due to its size.
