Ford has lifted the veil off of the facelifted 2015 Expedition SUV ahead of its debut at the Dallas Motor Show.
The big news for 2015 is found by looking in the Expedition’s engine bay, where the outgoing model’s 5.4-liter V8 engine has been replaced by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 linked to a six-speed automatic transmission. Ford declined to provide additional technical details but the engine makes about 370 horsepower and 430 lb-ft. of torque when fitted to the 2015 Lincoln Navigator.
Visually, both the long- and short-wheelbase variants of the Expedition gain a modestly updated front end with a three-slat grille, a new bumper and revised headlights. New alloy wheel designs ranging up to 22 inches, a redrawn tailgate and optional LED fog lights round out the updates.
The interior updates are equally minor and largely limited to a redesigned steering wheel and a revamped center console. Buyers can order the Expedition with an optional continuously controlled damping function that offers three selectable driving modes: comfort, normal and sport.
Ford’s largest SUV gains a range-topping trim level called Platinum for the latest model year, and a King Ranch model will be added to the lineup later in the production run.
The 2015 Ford Expedition will land in showrooms next summer. Pricing information and full technical details will be published closer to its on-sale date.
