Nothing remains a secret for long on the internet, and so it is with the successor to the Lamborghini Gallardo, which has leaked out ahead of its formal debut.
Originally believed to be called the Cabrera, the supercar will instead use the Huracán nameplate. Huracán is Spanish for hurricane and originates from the name of the ancient Mayan god of storm, wind and fire.
Stylistically, the Huracán represents an evolution of Sant’Agata’s angular, fighter jet-inspired design language, with many cues appearing to draw inspiration from the larger, more expensive Aventador. It’s a similar story inside, where crisp geometric shapes create a futuristic look.
LP610-4 badging ahead of the rear wheels suggests all-wheel-drive and 610 PS – roughly 604 brake horsepower – from the Huracán’s V10. Lamborghini has confirmed that it will not offer a manual transmission, leaving a dual-clutch automatic as the only gearbox available.
The Huracán will adopt the Aventador’s use of lightweight composites – such as carbon fiber and aluminum – which should result in a significant weight loss compared to the outgoing Gallardo.
While rumors have suggested that Lamboghini was planning to wait until sometime next year to unveil the Huracán, today’s leak may cause the automaker to move up its timetable.
