Cadillac revealed the brand’s newest models today – including the highly anticipated all-new 2015 Escalade – at the Dubai International Motor Show. The all-new CTS and XTS Vsport models were also on display – for the first time ever in the Middle East.
2015 Escalade
For more than a decade, the Cadillac Escalade has exemplified luxury and performance with technology, power and style. The 2015 Escalade will advance to a higher level in all aspects, but the greatest changes to Cadillac’s flagship SUV are on the inside.
The fourth-generation Escalade is an entirely new design yet instantly recognizable. Much of the story of Cadillac’s redesigned flagship SUV is on the interior, where new levels of luxury combine with the latest technology.
“There can be no doubt that the all-new Escalade boosts Cadillac’s comprehensive line-up. This is a line-up that really competes with other premium brands in terms of design, performance and technology,” said Maurice Williams, President and Managing Director, GM Middle East Operations. “With completely new and elevated design and technology, inside and out, the 2015 Escalade highlights our goal to once again assume the leadership position among luxury SUVs.”
From its introduction, Escalade quickly became the standard among luxury SUVs with a formula of bold design, powerful capability and luxurious accommodations for up to eight occupants. Three succeeding generations led luxury SUV customers to confer icon status on it. The 2015 Escalade takes design and technical elements from Cadillac’s product expansion to elevate the brand’s signature SUV.
The 2015 Cadillac Escalade arrives in showrooms in the UAE in the second half of 2014. The product line will consist of the standard Escalade model, as well as the extended-length ESV edition, with offers a 14-inch-longer (355 mm) wheelbase and approximately 20 inches (508 mm) more in overall length, maximizing space for third-row passengers and 60 percent more cargo space behind the third-row seat than the Escalade.
Offered with 4WD drivetrain, Escalade features a new 6.2L V-8 engine that is more powerful and more efficient than previous models. Cadillac’s Magnetic Ride Control, the world’s fastest-reacting suspension system, is now standard and delivers precisely controlled driving performance.
The exterior features crisp, new and more sophisticated surfaces, accented by dramatic light-emitting diode, or LED, lighting.
The new interior features cut-and-sewn and wrapped materials, with wood trim options chosen for elegance and authenticity. Seats were engineered to be more comfortable and sculpted in appearance. The new interior is dramatically quieter, too, thanks to a stronger new body structure, new and enhanced acoustic material, and Bose Active Noise Cancellation technology.
CUE, Cadillac’s advanced system for connectivity and control, is standard featuring state-of-the-art voice recognition with touch controls common with the world’s most popular tablets and mobile devices. A standard 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster can be reconfigured with four themes and an available head-up display projects information onto the windshield. An available Blu-Ray DVD rear entertainment system includes a nine-inch, roof-mounted screen on Escalade and two nine-inch screens on Escalade ESV.
The front seating area offers more than 1.5 inches (44 mm) more headroom and more than four inches (101 mm) of additional legroom compared to previous models while the second- and third-row seats fold flat for greater cargo versatility – and a segment-first hands-free liftgate includes programmable height settings.
Escalade’s new technologies include safety features to help protect occupants before, during and after a collision, such as Front and Rear Automatic Braking, which relies on short-range radar technology and ultrasonic sensors to help the driver avoid front and rear low-speed collisions via a progression of alerts that extend to complete braking, if necessary.
Also new is the segment’s only Front Seat Center-Mounted air bag, which is engineered to provide additional protection to drivers and front passengers in far-side impact crashes, where the affected occupant is on the opposite, non-struck side of the vehicle.
A Driver Awareness package includes Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning System, and the patented Safety Alert Seat, which offers directional vibrations to alert the driver about potential crash threats. A Driver Assist package adds Full Speed Range Adaptive Cruise Control, Front and Rear Automatic Braking, Automatic Collision Preparation and Automatic Safety Belt Tightening.
All-new 2014 CTS
Cadillac’s all-new 2014 CTS sedan is longer, lower, leaner and stronger than the previous generation evolving the brand’s Art & Science design philosophy. It is now right-sized for the heart of the midsize luxury segment and poised to go head-to-head with the world’s finest performance luxury sedans.
The third-generation CTS sedan is based on the high-performing rear-drive architecture of the award-winning ATS sport sedan, moving Cadillac into the prestigious class of midsize luxury sedans. It will be the segment’s lightest car, enabling the most agile driving dynamics in the class. A range of power-dense powertrains underpin its performance, including the all-new 2.0L Turbo engine and eight-speed automatic transmission is standard on the 3.6L engine.
The 3.6L V-6 is rated at an estimated 321 horsepower and also matched with the new paddle-shift eight-speed automatic in rear-wheel-drive models (or six-speed automatic with all-wheel drive); and the 2.0L turbocharged engine rated at an estimated 272 horsepower and paired with a six-speed automatic.
“The all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS sedan boasts head-turning crafted design, thrilling performance and sophisticated technology,” said Williams. “This superb car has always been Cadillac’s centerpiece, and will continue to challenge the world’s best.”
While stretched in overall length and wheelbase, the all-new CTS sedan has a lower curb weight than the preceding model. Lightweight features, including Cadillac’s first aluminum door structures, contribute to the lower weight and a 50/50 weight balance. And for the first time on CTS, Magnetic Ride Control, Cadillac’s real-time damping system, is standard on base models.
XTS
Cadillac is adding a new option to its XTS luxury sedan: more power and torque. The all-new Cadillac Twin Turbo V6 is an optional engine for the 2014 XTS.
In the XTS, the twin turbo will produce an SAE-certified 410 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, making it one of the most power-dense six-cylinder engines among luxury cars.
“The new Cadillac Twin Turbo is a fantastic addition to the XTS luxury sedan,” said Williams. “With this great vehicle, we’ve taken what is already one of the most technically advanced sedans in our history, one step further.”
The twin turbo will be the centerpiece of a new model offering called Vsport. The new Vsport is inspired by and slotted “underneath” Cadillac’s elite high-performance V-Series models. Vsport includes the best-performing technical elements inside the “regular” car line in a single model, headlined by Twin Turbo engine.
The new Cadillac Twin Turbo is a comprehensive upgrade to the 3.6L dual overhead cam V6 that is standard in the XTS in the Middle East market.
In addition to three regional premieres, Cadillac also displayed its newest line-up including the ATS and SRX.
The Cadillac ATS – the brand’s entry into the world’s most significant luxury car segment – was named the Best Executive Sedan at the Middle East Motor Awards 2013. The pioneering vehicle was nominated in the Best Executive Sedan category based on a host of qualification requirements – ranging from driver satisfaction to design, handling, safety features, emotional appeal, value for money, comfort level, performance and technical innovation.
The 2014 Cadillac SRX offers a truly roomy interior; its design is classic Cadillac, with luxury that touches every aspect of the vehicle – from the technology-drenched dashboard and high-performance powertrain to the exclusive comfort and convenience features.
