Land Rover has announced a series of updates to the 2014 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.
On the styling front, the Range Rover can be equipped with a new Black Design Pack that adds gloss black accents on the grille, mirrors, door handles and side vents. The package also includes new 21- or 22-inch alloy wheels.
Interior changes are limited but the Range Rover can be equipped with new front seats (with powered upper seat articulation) and an upgraded rear seat entertainment system with larger 10.2-inch displays.
The models also gain several new safety options including Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Departure Warning and Perpendicular Park / Parking Exit. Customers can also order an InControl system which has a 3G WiFi hotspot, stolen vehicle tracking and a remote monitoring app for iOS and Android smartphones.
Under the hood, the Range Rover Sport can be equipped with a new 4.4-liter SDV8 diesel engine that develops 339 HP (249 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed ZF transmission which enables the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 225 km/h (140 mph) when equipped with the Dynamic Pack.
Land Rover will also offer a new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport Hybrid that have a 3.0-liter SDV6 turbodiesel engine and a 47 HP (35 kW) electric motor. This setup enables the models to have a combined maximum output of 340 HP (250 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque.
