Land Rover has introduced the 2014 Evoque which comes with a number of changes, including the adoption of a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The ZF-developed nine-speed auto ‘box will be available on one gasoline engine and two diesels, promising to reduce fuel consumption by up to 11.4 percent and CO2 emissions by up to 9.5 percent on certain versions. The most economical 2014 Evoque is the one equipped with a 148 bhp (110 kW) 2.2-liter diesel in the front-wheel drive guise which returns 47.9 mpg US (57.6 mpg UK or 4.9 liters / 100 km) and emits 129 g/km in the combined cycle.
Aside from the new transmission, Land Rover is now offering an optional Active Driveline four-wheel drive on-demand system. It enables the 2014 Evoque to turn into a FWD car during normal road conditions at speeds of above 22 mph (35 km/h). It will make the switch to a four-wheel drive setup in just 300 milliseconds whenever road conditions change.
This Active Driveline system encompasses an Active Torque Biasing feature which incorporates an electronic differential for splitting torque between the rear wheels as a method to improve stability and traction.
The 2014 Evoque is offered as standard with a Torque Vectoring by Braking system which can diminish understeer by splitting torque between all four wheels. In addition, the revised crossover comes with a wade sensor, traffic sign recognition and lane departure warning systems, parking assist, along with exterior changes like new paint schemes, updated alloy designs and revised badges.
The 2014 Range Rover Evoque is scheduled to reach dealerships before the end of 2013.
