Georgian car designer Alexander Imnadze has envisioned a future BMW model wearing the “M3i” moniker.
The chances of seeing an M version of the upcoming BMW i8 hybrid supercar are slimbut this hasn’t stopped Alexander Imnadze to create a concept which mixes styling of BMW’s “M” and “i” cars. Alexander says his creation is an adversary for the Nissan GT-R and Aston Martin One-77 with styling cues from “old M3 series & new style of BMW i series.”
Even though there won’t be an M version of the i8, M division chief Friedrich Nitschke is trying to convince BMW chairman Norbert Reithofer to green-light the M8 which would borrow the carbon fiber and aluminum underpinnings from the i8. The M8 is believed to come out in 2016 as a halo car to celebrate BMW’s centenary.
The production version of the BMW i8 will be revealed next month at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
