Pirelli has developed a new set of tires which they say can reduce noise inside the cabin by up to 50 percent.
These rubbers benefit from a new technology dubbed Pirelli Noise Canceling System and will be first available as optional equipment for the Audi RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback. The tires have a layer of polyurethane which has been adhered to the rubber’s inner portion. It can mute some of the noise related to the compressed air which means less noise will enter the cabin through the steering column.
Pirelli is offering 285/30 ZR 21 and 275/30 ZR 21 for the two RS models but no pricing has been disclosed at this moment. We are certain in the near future these new tires will find their way on other models from various automakers. They can be identified by the “PNCS” lettering on the sidewalls.
