General Motors CEO Dan Akerson has confirmed plans for a new sedan bigger than the XTS.
The announcement was made during his visit to USA TODAY’s headquarters where he showcased the 2014 CTS. He refused to provide more information about this car except that it will be released within the next two years and will sit on top of Cadillac’s range.
Various reports are indicating it will adopt a modified rear-wheel drive platform borrowed from the CTS and will be offered in an all-wheel drive variant as well. USA TODAY says it won’t be based on Holden’s rear-wheel drive models and that it will not be a replacement for the XTS.
In terms of design, it will borrow a few styling cues from recent concepts but the overall design will be different. It will carry some of the design ideas seen on the 2014 CTS, such as the front fascia with those interesting teardrop headlights.
