Chevrolet is taking the special out of special edition as the company has announced plans to offer a limited edition Sonic in Deep Magenta Metallic and Cool Blue.
Designed to appeal to “individualist” consumers, the limited edition models will feature a unique exterior color and nothing else. That doesn’t make them terribly exciting but GM says the limited edition colors will be applied using a “three-wet” paint process that “ensures high quality while reducing environmental impact.”
According to GM lead creative designer Michelle Killen, “We know that about one-third of our Sonic buyers note exterior color as an ‘extremely important’ factor in their purchase process – a higher percentage than other small car buyers.”
The Deep Magenta Metallic Sonic will be available from August through October, while Cool Blue will be offered from November to March 2014. The company will also add a Dragon Green exterior color early next year
